Baby Eric’s birth story

When I found out I was pregnant I automatically had a panic about having to go to hospital to have our baby. When attending the hospital for my 12 week and 20 week scan this became very apparent on how I really didn’t like the hospital environment. I felt scared about having to go to the hospital to have our baby, also at this point I didn’t think I had a very good pain threshold and was told by several members of my family I would be a nightmare giving birth and my husband was also very worried by these comments. We attended antenatal classes and the thought of all the intervention that you may have to go through worried me even more. It all felt out of my control.
So when I saw this opportunity to come and experience relaxation and hypnobirthing I thought I had nothing to lose.
Lynsey give me some great techniques to use and made my birth very calm, relaxing, pain free and gave me a very calm supportive husband in the process as I was able to believe i could trust and believe in my body.
From the moment my waters broke to having my baby in my arms was 8 hours. During that time I did attend the hospital and I was sent home they told me I wouldn’t give birth that day and my waters hadn’t broke(they never broke again.) 4 hours after getting home from the hospital my contractions started at this point my husband wasn’t he and I was dealing with this in a very calm manner using techniques I had learnt. When he returned I was well on my way to having very regular contractions so we were told to go back to hospital. When I arrived they took one look at me and asked if I had had any pain relief and the answer was no. They cancelled the delivery room and popped me on a side bed and told me they would examine me in the meantime I was have thick and fast contractions and the urges to push. My husband located a midwife who came in and found i was fully dilated and ready to have our baby. Which caused panic in her as she has no delivery room ready. I was rushed off in to a room and managed to move from one bed to another and I was ready to give birth. I used all the techniques I had learned about and we had a very smooth delivery. I knew my body was capable of having my baby without having to have any intervention or drugs. I knew I could stay calm and I was in control of the whole situation.
