What makes my hypnobirthing method different?

hey there!

I’m Lindsey Lou Dakota

Mum of Sienna and Kaia. Hypnobirthing teacher. Primary school teacher

I wish I knew then what I know now!

To be honest, I had no clue what hypnobirthing was at first. I just knew I needed something more than antenatal offered me and I was such a wuss with pain - I just had to explore other options and when my NCT teacher suggested hypnobirthing, I knew I had to investigate! My husband thought it was woo woo nonsense so I really had my work cut out in persuading him to go! But he ended up being hypnobirthing’s biggest advocate because the practical ways he learnt to support me, advocate and play an active role rather than standing on the side lines like a lemon!

My fear was replaced by genuine excitement and deep knowledge that I knew my options, I was informed and could advocate for myself.

I can pinpoint the exact moment I knew that I wanted to train to become a hypnobirthing teacher. I avoided unnecessary surgery with my first child enabling me, an older mum, to have the natural birth I thought I wouldn’t be able to have. We asked the right questions and chose to opt out of a C Section. About an hour later, Sienna popped out safe and sound.

My hypnobirthing method is so much more than just information.

POV This is the most transformational birth course there is.

I truly believe The Born Ready Method is the missing piece in modern birth education.

Yes — I offer full birth preparation courses online and in person in North and West Yorkshire, helping you feel calm, informed and confident for birth itself. But built into every course is the “secret sauce” that so often gets overlooked:

We explore communication, recovery and the relationship changes that often come with becoming parents. For example, learn how to communicate better when stress levels are high, move through overwhelm more quickly, and support each other instead of turning against each other when things feel hard. I’m not a therapist - just a mum who has experienced a lot and can help even if you don’t think you need it! In fact, I actively use many of these approaches with my own children and the children in my class to help them manage conflict and communicate better in the playground — and they’ve certainly made me a better primary school teacher too.

As someone who has personally experienced relationship difficulties after kids, invested deeply in personal development, and researched the real challenges couples face after having children, I feel incredibly passionate about helping parents prepare for the bumps in the road nobody really talks about.

No, just to be clear, I’m not a couples therapist — and I’m not pretending to have a magic wand. But who wouldn’t want to stack the odds in their favour when it comes to staying connected, communicating well and working together as a team during one of the biggest transitions of your lives?

Parents I work with arrive feeling nervous about birth. By the end of the course, they feel fully prepared for labour and birth — however that unfolds — but also feeling calmer, more connected and more emotionally equipped for what comes afterwards too.

Preparing for birth matters but the secret sauce is feeling prepared for real life afterwards too. And rest assured, I won't make you do anything cringe or pretend to be a uterus in role play, nor partake in a weird rituals - I promise!

Who is hypnobirthing suitable for?

Hypnobirthing is suitable for every type of birth, including hospital birth, home birth, induction, assisted birth and planned caesarean birth. It is not anti-pain relief and it isn't about achieving a specific type of birth. It's about understanding your options and feeling prepared for whatever path your birth takes.

Knowing they are modelling themselves on us….. It’s bloomin’ scary but they are literally moulding themselves on us and our example
